I have had a phone plugged in my new home for 4 hours. 4 hours. Comcast just called me. If you are going to call me to sell something, I know who you are because you can't pronounce my last name. Don't even freaking try, you don't even get close, stupid people.
UPDATE:
I just got a second call an hour later. This one must have read the blog because he didn't try my last name. I received probably about 20 telemarketing calls on my cell phone in about 2 years. That's it. And people wonder why I prefer my cell phone.

Music at Noon
There are some really good things about working in downtown Sacramento. Now that the city is really trying to spruce up the place, there are a lot of cool, non-chain restaurants, fun stores, and now I find out.. music at noon.
I went to talk to one of my friends at work the other day(she's the only one, when I mentioned getting my motorcycle license that didn't absolutely freak out..instead she said she wanted to take the training class that the CHP offered with me. How cool is that?) and she told me about this classical guitarist, Brandon Yip, that was going to play for free at this church. Me being me, was a little worried about going to a church, but the concert sounded interesting. So yesterday at lunch, she and I bought burritos and walked to the Westminster church, about two minutes away from work. Here's the best part, eating in the church is encouraged if you do it quietly. Sweet.
When Brandon Yip came up, one of the first things he said was something about praising god in all he's gloriousness, or something to that effect. I looked at my co-worker with that look you all know so well. The one that say "What did you get me into?" But that was it. After that comment, he played beautiful music on his guitar and we found out later, he's preforming the world premier at the Mondavi Center in jan. I saw him for free! Then we discovered that music at noon is just located at the church, the church doesn't put it on or sponser it. Every Wednesday, there is some different music. This could be a really good break from work.
How fun to work in a place where so much is going on. Life is good.

Better Late Than Never
Yes, I know, I have been lazy have haven't written in a month. I feel terrible. There were so many blogs (specifically political ones, telling everyone how to vote and why), which were half written. But I just never got around to finishing any of them. I do have the excuse of being busy. I mean, I did just move into my own home. Yep, I did say that, my own, lovely, wonderful home. The best part...it's mine. Now I just have to start paying for it. :-)
Yes, I have been busy. Moving, shopping, packing, and unpacking. But considering one of my best friends just had a baby and has managed to keep up her blog, I really have no excuse what-so-ever (except I didn't have access to the internet for a good week and a half. Now that's a great excuse, right??)
Now I could bore you all with how much I love my condo, but since most of you have been here, I won't do that (but I do love it, I think it's perfect for little ol' me.) What I wonder, though, is how long does it take for it to feel like my home? It still feels like I am crashing at someone else’s place. It doesn't help that I bought all new furniture. When I come home from work, the first things I see are the new couch, chairs, table, entertainment center, kitchen appliances, etc. Everything in my bedroom is new two. Even a lot of my clothes are new!! The only rooms that really have my stuff in it are my sewing room and office. But I like spending my time in my family room/dining room/kitchen. It's my favorite spot in the house.
Someone said putting my pictures up on the wall would help, but it hasn't.
I know the change will be gradual. One day I will be able to say that this is my home without pause or doubt. But for now, I am still a traveler in my own home.
Despite that, I do like my home. I like to have friends over, I like feeling safe (although I hate locking myself out of the house, that was a bummer), I like my instant fire, and I like living someplace comfortable. I will be happy here, I do believe. However, I hate the buses. It takes me 40 mintues to travel what I could do in 15 minutes in my own car. Last week, one bus never showed up and I waited 45 mintues for the next one, and one simply skipped my stop and went right on past. There were three of us in the street waving at the driver and he flat out ignored us. All of us complained. I called and e-mail. If they want me to keep using the bus system, they should consider not leaving me, a single women, alone in downtown sacramento, in the dark. Not what I call a pleasant experience. I called my parents to take me home and then I lent another guy my phone to call his wife. After we talked for a few mintues, we realized that we were headed the same way. Well, duh, of course, were taking the same bus...we might be going the same way. What an odd thought, I could have saved my parents the trip. Sigh.
I don't like the bus, but I don't want to drive. I am thinking of getting a motorcycle. Yes, I would use gas, but not much compared to a car. And I wouldn't use it that much, just to work and back. Most of that would be on surface streets, not freeways, so it wouldn't be too dangerous. Actually, it might be kind of fun. Me on a motorcycle, somehow that just seems right. :-)
