We all know I have a few anal qualities. I don't know the number of people I've annoyed by reaching across the table at a restaurant to steal the bill and line up those twenties. But how can people actually turn in money that way? How can you even count it to be sure you have enough? I just don't get it.
And then, there are the M&M's. I don't just eat them in color mind you. I don't eat them very much anymore, but when I did there was a whole method. First, you grab a handful. Then you line them up by how many you have.Ones on the right and increasing towards the left and placing them from the top down. You have to start off by eating the color with the highest number until it gets down to the next highest number. Now you have two (or three) at the same stage. You then eat these in color order until you get around to the next one. Then you add that color in. You keep eating them this way until you have the same number of all colors. Then you eat them in color order. Browns and tans first, orange, red, yellow, blue, then green (sometime blue and green get switched. Depends on how I feel). That's how you eat a handful of m&m's.
If you get all the same color, for example my friend has a cup of all green ones, you eat them two by two. That way the sides of the mouth are evenly dosed. Oh, and I have googled this, I am not the only one that eats m&m's like this.
But on to my new thing. Maybe this is only my problem. Maybe no one else sleeps like I do. But even if they do, they probably don't have the same reaction as I do. I have noticed that the top part of the bedsheet, not the fitted one but the one you sleep under, always seems to get creases in the same place. It's just the top three or four inches that is thicker that the rest. I don't like these creases. I don't like them at all. If I don't do anything about them, they just stay in the same place and get more and more pronounced. To resolved this issue, I have gotten in the habit of ironing that top 3-4 inches. I don't even iron all the shirts i'm supposed to. I dry them on a hanger and hope they look good after been worn for an hour or so. But I will iron the top bit of the bedsheet to remove those pesky creases. How weird is that?

Apple Lips
We must all have some disgusting food from our childhood that we still enjoy today. Something we didn't realize was disgusting, weird, unusual, or even bad for us and yet, despite all attempts, we still crave it from time to time. I've given up many food over the past few years, like fast food. But I will never be able to stop eating a couple of my disgusting childhood loves.
First chocolate frozen yogurt and m&m's. It's horrid. Too sweet and chocolaty. I don't even like m&m's normally. But in this dessert, yummm. I am a happy women.
But my favorite are the apple lips. See I hated food as a kid. I really did. You think I am picky now, oh, you should have seen me years ago. I wouldn't eat anything. My parents had to talk me into eating apples, which I did occasionally, begrudgingly. But then my mom came up with this great idea, and I began begging for apples. She would take a nice red apple and slice it up. She would then take two slices and stick them together using peanut butter and add little marshmallows as teeth. Red lips, white teeth. I love them. I still eat them. Of course I usually now only use real peanut butter and organic apples, but the marshmallows are the same. When I get in a real bad mood, I will just eat the peanut butter and marshmallows, without the apple. But it's just not as good. In fact, it's even more disgusting than the apple lips. That I can quit anyday - the apple lips, not going to happen.

Toastmasters
About three weeks ago, I gave my first impromptu speech ever. My friend was giving her "ice-breaker," the first speech, at the meeting and had invited me to come watch her, so I did. During the meeting, during every meeting, they have table topics. This is when a person comes up with a few ideas, related to the theme of the day, and gives you one, while you walk up to the podium to speak. Basically, you speak on the fly. I didn't have to talk, but the members looked at all the guests and asked if they wanted to try. Knowing the others wouldn't dare, and I really don't have a problem speaking in front of complete strangers, I said I would. My topic was old music and the words of the day, which must be used, were lion and lamb.
Swing music was the first thing to come to mind, although if I had really been thinking I would have chosen old english music because at that time I was trying to come up with old English dances. But i didn't. So I talked about swing, I pretend to dance in front of everyone, and came up with the idea that swing music is like a lion and a lamb. A lion because you have the loud brass. The saxes, trumpet, etc. A lamb because you have sweet wonderful voices like ella fizgerald. Yea, it was cheesy, but I won for best table topics. I even got a ribbon.
I've been back twice since. Funny thing is, no one remembers my name, they all remember the dancing. Still, they continue to say they are glad to see me again and my friend who invited me in the first place has asked me to join. She's even volunteered to be my toastmasters mentor. After much hemming, hawing, and questioning and wondering, i realized it isn't that important if I do or don't join. Yes, I may be bad at critiquing people (nicely) and unsure of doing any job right, but these people really don't care. If I do or don't say the right things, it's not going to bother them in the slightest. In fact, they just want people to join so they can get their premiere group status.
So I joined. Today. I am going to have to speak in front of people, evaluate others, check others grammer, count Ah's and um's, come up with ideas for impromptu speeches, and eventually lead meetings. Geesh. Well, if I don't like it I can leave. All I know is that the people like me there, especially my friend..... I lower the average age in that group by about 5 years.
