Clothes

So, I just started my new job. This is a job at UCSF (University of California at San Francisco), but I am contracted out to the California department of Health so I actually work in Sacrmento.
Now since this is a state type job, I have to look decent. No torn jeans etc. So my mom took me to Nordstrom and forced me (okay forced may be a strong word, how about talked into)to use a personal shopper to help me pick out some clothes due to my lack of knowledge of clothing. So I did, spent more money than I ever had on only 5 items of clothing (I could afford it thanks to my grandmother. Now I can dress professional preppy.

The good thing about these clothes is that they are not uncomfortable. I don't have to wear business suits, skirts, or high heels, I just have to look decent. Today I actually wore linen pants and a tank top, so it's not too bad.

But the best part has been the reaction to my clothing. My goodness, I never expected this. The security guard at work has mentioned that I am a beautiful women two or three times. He isn't really serious, because I heard him say the same things to other women. But still he knows me and makes it easy for me to get in the door since I don't have my ID badge yet.

Then, three days in a row, the bus that takes me to work stops right in front of me. I've stood in a different place each time. Right by the bus sign, far away from the sign, and in between, and each time, the door is right in front of me, so I don't have to walk. I expect this to end fairly soon, but still, it's been kind of weird.

But the best experience so far has been free corn. Yep, free corn. I went to a farmer's market with my boss. She bought corn, I didn't. The guy took an ear of corn, cleaned it up, cut off the tassel etc. and just gave it to me!!! Weird, but cool.

Change of topic

Why can't people learn how to format? Seriously, I am working on this manual at work. The person that wrote it wanted to indent some of the paragraph. Did this person use the indent feature, nope. This person put returns at the end of each sentence and use tabs to indent the next sentence. What if you wanted to add words in the sentence? Well, everything gets screwed up and you have to format everything all over again. Ugh, just use the indent feature. Sigh.
