Yes, indeed, I am going to brag. Sorry about that. I'm not usually a big bragger, nor do I like other people who brag, but just this once, I'm going to do it. Ha! (yes you can smack me later for my big head).
Let me set the stage. I decided to take the Law School Admissions Test, LSAT in February. I got my score on March 1st. I realized I did quite well, so applied to about 12 law schools by March 31st. This was fast. This was very fast. Many schools stop accepting applications in January and February and most people apply in November and December - having taken the LSAT in June or October. What I did was a very last minute, toss my hat in the ring and let's see what happens kind of thing.
Most of the schools I applied to were still accepting applications, although I did apply to 1 or 2 over a month after their deadline, just to see what would happen (so far one has put me on their wait list - which is about as much as I could hope for.) Some of you may be asking, why 12 schools? That's a bit much. I agree but most of them emailed me and waived the application fee. So why not? No extra cost on my part. The way the law school applications are set up, all I had to do was push a few buttons, fill out a few fields, and in 5 minutes, I applied to another school. No big deal.
Yesterday, I got a response from McGeorge. For those that don't know, McGeorge is located in Sacramento. It is not one of the top schools in the country, but it is a good school and, as luck would have it, one of our Supreme Court Justices went there, Anthony Kennedy.
They accepted me. Not a surprise. I knew they would. What I wasn't expecting was the FULL TUITION SCHOLARSHIP. Did you get that? Yep, that's right, I have a scholarship that will pay my FULL TUITION every year I am in law school as long as I am in the top third of my class and I get all my first year law books for free. Not only that, but they will pay the tuition and lodging for a summer class in Salzburg, Austria taught by that very same supreme court justice, Anthony Kennedy. Want to talk about hobnobbing with the right people.
So let's see, I can get a free JD plus a class, in Austria, taught by a Supreme Court Justice. I should mention the scholarship and such is all because I was accepted as a Anthony M Kennedy Fellow. One more thing on my resume.
This is going to be really hard to turn down. I am going to wait to see what the other schools have to offer, if anything, but, phew, this is going to be hard to beat.
Which means 2 things, 1) I'm going to law school in the fall and 2) this is going to be the summer of fun. I am going to have a hard 4 years ahead (law school is normally 3, but I am doing it part-time in the evening while working part-time) so I want to have as much fun this summer as possible. Dancing? yes. Plays? Yes. Bike rides? Yes. Going out to drinks? Yes. I'm going to say yes to everything and I'm going to have the summer to remember. Let's go party!!!!!!

Awesome ! I'll book our guest room for the night of our summer party. You'll want to come early to see if you can match Ramsey beer for beer.
