I think I did a terrible thing yesterday. I am feeling so guilty today, but I am sure I'll get over it (I hope).
At work, we are moving. The powers that be have decided to move my entire branch up one floor (which is why I am at home today. They didn't want us in the way of the movers who have to move our hundreds of boxes up one floor.) They are squeezing a group that took up half a floor into a quarter of a floor. Needless to say, we are not happy.
When I went to visit my new cubicle last week, it was disgusting. After two hours of cleaning yesterday, it looked okay, except for the bulletin board. The bulletin board was an ugly putrid orange. Not even a nice orange, but god-awful "I think someone threw up in here" orange. It reminded me of the 60's. Everyone on that floor had that color board (I think the floors are color coded). I just decided it was worth it to me to bring in some fabric to cover the bulletin board. Otherwise I was going to stare at that thing all day long in absolute and total disgust, and not get any work done.
But yesterday, a little bird told me how someone, he didn't know who, knew how to remove the bulletin boards, and, lo and behold, I noticed, there were a couple of cubes that had the nice grey boards from our old cubicles.
And so, completely without my knowledge, or my boss's knowledge for that matter, my ugly orange bulletin board turned into the nice grey one. My old cubical downstairs somehow ended up with the putrid orange one. I'm happy.
