Picking a topic

One of my current classes is a health economics class. The teacher is absolutely boring, but the information is good and fairly relevent to want I want to do (save the world buy providing health insurance). Adverse selection, moral hazard, the purpose of insurance etc. All very important topics that I would never have begun to understand without someone holding my hand and forcing me too.

However, I have to write a paper. Now, I don't mind writing papers, although I do prefer problem sets, but papers are okay. But I hate, let me repeat that, hate picking my own topic. Some people love it. Some people have this innate ability to think of a hundred perfect topics, and have trouble deciding between them. I, however, do not have this ability. Therefore, I hate picking my topic. This is especially for this paper since I have never had a class in economics before. With no background in this subject matter, I am supposed to pick a wonderfully fabulous topic and write a wonderful graduate level paper on it to prove to my teacher that I did learn something in my wonderfully tedious class. Does anyone wonder why I prefer problem sets?
